Downtown Andover shuts down Main Street on Saturday, Sept. 19, for the fifth annual Andover Day. The sold-out festival stretches from Central to Locke streets with 265 vendors, live music and a new fitness village.

The Andover Chamber of Commerce, led by President Paul Salafia, took over the event in 2022 after a pandemic hiatus. The Chamber expects about 14,000 people between 10 a.m. and 4 p.m. Attendance topped 15,000 last year, according to Andover MA News. All 265 vendor and booth spots are filled, with a waiting list.

"It's not just the food vendors on the street. Go to the restaurants and walk inside the shops," Chamber member Siana Ziesel told The Andover Townsman. "Sometimes people can forget that behind the tents, there are shops."

Chestnut Street, Punchard Avenue and part of Post Office Avenue will also close to keep cars off Main Street.

The Andover High School Percussion Ensemble kicks things off at 10:30 a.m. with a march down Main Street starting at Elm Square. Five bands play the main stage behind Old Town Hall through 6:30 p.m.: The Radio, Mass Ave, Slow Burn, Jump Street and BlondeDog.

The Andover High School Golden Warrior marching band, Andover Chinese Charm Circle, Misfit Artist Company and SMB Lessons perform on a community stage in the municipal lot near U-Burger.

A 20-foot LED screen returns to Elm Square, looping videos from town organizations and hosting interactive "Just Dance" sessions at 11 a.m. and 1 p.m. Participants follow an on-screen avatar, and those with the Just Dance app can earn points tracked through their phones.

New this year is a fitness and wellness village at Punchard Avenue and Main Street near Ultimate Perk. The Merrimack Valley Striders, Club Pilates North Andover, Home Yoga, Ativo Fitness, Andover Youth Services and Pure Barre will lead 20- to 30-minute sessions.

A beer and wine garden featuring Oak and Iron Brewing and Mill River Winery opens behind Old Town Hall and stays open until 6:30 p.m.

Kids get their own zone between Caffe Nero and U-Burger. T&B Landscaping hosts a touch-a-truck event, and Leader Band sponsors a remote-controlled race car track. Youth Services and Recreation will run games there as well.

The Andover Farmers Market will be open at Town Park, 34 Bartlet St. Elder Services shuttle rides for Andover seniors who can board independently were due by Thursday, Sept. 17; call 978-623-8320 to check availability. More than 80 volunteers begin setup at 4 a.m.

The rain date is Saturday, Sept. 26.
