HomeGoods is scheduled to open Thursday, Oct. 29, at the North Andover Mall, bringing another home-furnishings retailer to the Winthrop Avenue shopping plaza.

The store at 350 Winthrop Ave. will welcome customers from 8 a.m. to 10 p.m. on opening day, according to the company’s grand-opening page. HomeGoods notes that opening dates are subject to change.

The chain sells furniture, bedding, rugs, home décor, kitchenware and pet supplies. It is owned by TJX Companies, whose brands also include TJ Maxx and Marshalls.

Market Basket operates at the plaza, and TJX’s store directory lists a TJ Maxx at the same address.

Local businesses anticipate more visitors

Construction was still underway in early October, the Andover Townsman reported Oct. 1.

North Andover resident Debbie Henderson welcomed the addition while joking about its potential effect on her shopping habits.

“It's a mistake because I'll probably be there a lot,” she told the Townsman.

Kate Keisling, owner of the Purple Couch Bookstore, and Steve Buco, manager of Wine and Beer at the Andovers, told the newspaper they hoped the new retailers would bring more foot traffic to the plaza.

Another Massachusetts opening

HomeGoods also plans to open a store at 297 Great Road in Bedford on Thursday, Oct. 15. Opening-day hours there are listed as 8 a.m. to 10 p.m.

North Andover shoppers can check the local store page for updated hours and information before visiting.
