North Andover trailed 5-0 after Burlington's opening drive, then scored 42 straight points to win 42-14 on Friday, Sept. 25, at Walsh Stadium.
The Scarlet Knights are 3-0.
Jacob Meaney scored twice in the first quarter on runs of one and three yards. Christian Valentino kicked the extra point on the first touchdown, and Meaney converted a two-point rush on the second to put North Andover ahead 15-5. Austin Allen added an 11-yard touchdown run in the second quarter and later broke loose for a 54-yard score. Darren Bernat punched in a one-yard touchdown in the third quarter, and freshman Ryan Peters capped the night with a nine-yard run, according to the Andover Townsman.
Peters' touchdown was the first of his varsity career.
Through three games, the Knights have outscored opponents 100-41. They opened with a 31-21 win at Methuen on Sept. 11, beat Masconomet 27-6 on Sept. 18 and now own victories over teams from the Merrimack Valley Conference, the Northeastern Conference and the Middlesex League, according to MaxPreps.
North Andover hosts Billerica Memorial on Thursday, Oct. 1, at 6:30 p.m.
Merrimack women's hockey splits opening series
Merrimack College women's hockey lost its season opener 3-2 to Lindenwood on Thursday, Sept. 24, at Lawler Arena in North Andover. The Warriors bounced back with a 3-0 win on Friday, Sept. 25, to split the series and start the year 1-1-0.
Lindenwood scored three goals in the first period Thursday. Raquel McCormack opened the scoring at 3:33, Tatiana Blichova added the second and Silje Gundersen made it 3-0 before the period ended, according to Lindenwood Athletics.
The Warriors fought back. Captain Mady Cipolla scored Merrimack's first goal of the season in the second period, assisted by Hailey Eikos. Goaltender Machala Musty entered in the second period and stopped all 19 shots she faced. Abby DeAnzeris cut the deficit to 3-2 with 2:18 minutes left in the third, assisted by Emma Pfeffer and Madison Vittands, but time ran out.
The opener was the first game under head coach Courtney Kennedy, who took over in March. Merrimack finished 7-24-4 in 2025-26 and replaced its entire coaching staff, according to a Hockey East preview by The Ice Garden. Kennedy brings two decades of coaching experience, including 17 seasons as an assistant at Boston College.
Merrimack athletic director Joe Foley previewed the hire in a May interview on the Jacked Up Podcast: "We've got Courtney (Kennedy), who's going to come in and jolt some energy into that program, and it's going to take off."
The Warriors host Union College on Friday, Oct. 2, at 4 p.m. at Lawler Arena.
