Overnight paving on three North Andover streets begins Sunday, July 19, with crews working 7:30 p.m. to 5:30 a.m. nightly on Salem Street, Johnson Street, and Andover Street, according to a town notice published Friday, July 17, by North Andover News.
The work is part of North Andover's Annual Roads and Sidewalk Restoration Program. A town representative will be on site during construction.
Where the work is happening
The paving covers three connected segments:
- Salem Street from Leanne Drive to Johnson Street
- Johnson Street from Salem Street to Andover Street
- Andover Street from Johnson Street to Dufton Court
Residents and commuters in those corridors should expect raised castings — metal utility covers temporarily sitting above the fresh pavement — along with traffic detours and delays.
This phase has been pushed back at least twice. The same three street segments were first announced for overnight work in late June, with paving originally set to begin the week of Monday, July 6. A subsequent update moved the start to Wednesday, July 8. The July 17 notice now sets Sunday, July 19, as the new target. The schedule is weather-permitting.
The broader program has been active since at least May 2026, when earlier phases repaved streets including Barker Street, Duncan Drive, Bruin Hill Road, Winter Street, and Sutton Hill Road.
The town did not specify how many nights the paving will take or when this phase is expected to wrap up. The notice also does not name a completion date for the overall program.
Residents with questions can contact the North Andover Engineering Department, led by Town Engineer John Borgesi, at 978-685-0950. The office at 384 Osgood Street is open Monday, Wednesday, and Thursday from 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.; Tuesday from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m.; and Friday from 8 a.m. to noon.
Paving begins at 7:30 p.m. Sunday, July 19, weather permitting.
