Andover's field hockey team shut out rival North Andover 5-0 on Monday, Sept. 28, in a Merrimack Valley Conference matchup.
Halle Tisbert scored twice and Kailey Perkins added a goal and an assist for the Golden Warriors, whose defense did not allow a single shot on net, according to the Boston Herald's Monday roundup.
The rivalry blowout topped a packed Monday slate for Andover and North Andover programs across four sports.
Andover girls soccer 4, Methuen 1
Hannah Lee scored two goals and assisted on a third as Andover improved to 4-2 on the season. Catherine Stempek and Reese Downey also scored. Goalkeeper Sophia Breton made two saves behind a stingy defense, according to the Andover Townsman.
Andover boys soccer 2, Methuen 2
Andover led by two goals before Methuen rallied to level the match. Arthur Machado scored the first Methuen goal, and Matthew DiCalvacanti buried a free kick to equalize. Methuen goalkeeper Anthony Machado made eight saves.
North Andover girls soccer 5, Haverhill 1
Cameron Kvaternick and Avery Damour each scored twice, and Nicole Daley added a goal as the Scarlet Knights rolled past Haverhill. Goalkeeper Emma Damour made 11 saves.
North Andover boys soccer 6, Westford Academy 1
The Scarlet Knights routed Westford Academy on Monday, Sept. 28, according to the Valley Sports Daily scoreboard. No individual stats were available.
North Andover volleyball 3, Lawrence 0
North Andover swept Lawrence in straight sets. Lawrence's Laura Mora had 15 assists and Jenayalize Santana contributed 18 digs in the loss.
Merrimack women's hockey splits opening series
Merrimack College opened the Courtney Kennedy coaching era by splitting a two-game home series against Lindenwood University at Lawler Arena on Thursday, Sept. 24, and Friday, Sept. 25.
The Warriors fell 3-2 in the opener after Lindenwood scored three first-period goals. Captain Mady Cipolla netted Merrimack's first goal of the season in the second period, assisted by Hailey Eikos. Abby DeAnzeris scored in the third to cut the deficit to one, with assists from Emma Pfeffer and Madison Vittands. Goalkeeper Machala Musty stopped all 19 shots she faced after entering in the second period.
Merrimack bounced back with a 3-0 shutout on Friday, Sept. 25, to even the series. Kennedy is in her first season as Merrimack's head coach, according to the Eagle-Tribune.
