Andover's girls soccer team clinched a state tournament berth, according to Valley Sports Daily, after battling rival North Andover to a 0-0 tie Tuesday, Oct. 27.

The scoreless draw in the Merrimack Valley Conference finale for both clubs gave each side the point it needed. Valley Sports Daily reported that the result locked in a postseason spot for Andover and kept North Andover alive in the tournament race. Both teams entered the match needing at least a draw to protect their postseason positioning, according to Valley Sports Daily's Bill Gilman.

MaxPreps confirmed the final at 0-0, with no goals in either half. Andover moved to 6-5-6 on the season. North Andover sits at 8-7-4.

The MIAA Division 1 tournament takes the top 32 teams by power rating, according to The Mass Pitch. Teams ranked 33rd or lower can still earn a play-in game if their record is .500 or better. The MIAA's regular-season cutoff is Nov. 3, with the official bracket set for release Nov. 5.
