Andover will start opening early voting and mail-in ballots two days before the Nov. 3 state election, according to a revised notice posted by the town.
The process begins Sunday, Nov. 1, at 9 a.m. in the Select Board Conference Room on the third floor of Town Offices, 36 Bartlet St. Staff will open and process in-person early voting ballots and mail-in ballots received before Election Day at what the town calls an Advanced Opening Facility.
Tabulation of those ballots follows a three-day schedule at the same location:
- Sunday, Nov. 1 beginning at 11 a.m.
- Monday, Nov. 2 beginning at 10 a.m.
- Tuesday, Nov. 3 beginning at 8 a.m.
No results will be reported until after polls close on Election Day, the notice states.
Ballots cast in person on Nov. 3 will be tabulated at the polling places themselves.
The schedule extends well past Election Day for some mail-in ballots. Domestic mail-in ballots postmarked by Nov. 3 and received before 5 p.m. on Nov. 6 will be opened, processed and tabulated on Tuesday, Nov. 10, starting at 9 a.m. in the Select Board Conference Room.
International mail-in ballots postmarked by Nov. 3 and received by Nov. 13 will be counted Monday, Nov. 16, at 4 p.m. by the Board of Registrars of Voters in the Town Seal Conference Room, also on the third floor of Town Offices.
All tabulation sessions and the Nov. 16 Board of Registrars meeting are open to the public, the town said. If a tabulator fails or becomes unusable at the central or post-election facilities, early voting ballots will be counted by hand.
The town posted the revised notice on Wednesday, Oct. 28.
