A 12-year-old student reported missing from a River Road facility was located about 25 minutes later Saturday, Oct. 24, according to police radio traffic reported by Andover News.

The search began around 7 p.m. after a report that the student had left a Melmark facility. Officers requested additional personnel and K-9 assistance, while Tewksbury police offered a drone.

Police checked buildings and nearby woods. Around 7:24 p.m., an officer reported that the student had been found in a staff member’s vehicle and was being brought back to the residence.

The account is based on preliminary emergency radio transmissions, which may differ from investigators’ final findings.

The caller claimed someone was being held against their will at the hotel. Two officers investigated, including follow-up calls. Around 8:32 p.m., an officer reported that no direct threats had been established.

The radio account did not confirm that anyone was being detained against their will, and no arrests were reported.
