Luke Manzi is taking the baton.

The North Andover High graduate has been named a captain of the Saint Anselm College men's track and field team for the 2027 season, a fitting reward after a breakout sophomore year.

Manzi, a member of the Class of 2024, emerged as one of the Hawks' top distance runners this past season, helping lead two relay teams to third-place finishes at the Northeast-10 Indoor Championships. He also placed sixth in the 5,000 meters at the Southern New Hampshire University Invitational and helped Saint Anselm's 4x800 relay finish fifth at the NE-10 Outdoor Championships.

His performances helped the Hawks post the best indoor conference finish in program history, taking fourth place as a team.

North Andover High celebrated the news on social media, congratulating its former Scarlet Knight with an enthusiastic "Attaboy, Luke Manzi!"

The honor isn't just about race results. Manzi also earned a spot on the NE-10 Academic Honor Roll, balancing success in the classroom with his growing role as one of the program's leaders.

Now, with the captain's title in hand, Manzi will help lead Saint Anselm into the 2027 indoor season.
