Josh Roux drained three-pointers over a 6-foot-11 five-star recruit on NBA-TV, and the Andover High rising senior looked like he belonged.

Roux scored 16 points in the Mass. Rivals' two-point quarterfinal upset of national power Compton (Calif.) Magic at the Adidas 3SSB tournament in Rock Hill, S.C., the Andover Townsman reported, helping the Rivals reach the tournament finals. The game aired on NBA-TV with dozens of college coaches watching courtside.

Methuen's Antonio Pemberton led the Rivals with 29 points, including a buzzer-beating fall-away jumper to seal the win. But Roux's dead-eye shooting stood out. He calmly drained kick-out threes over Compton Magic's Darius Wabbington, a 6-foot-11 center ranked No. 15 nationally in the 2027 recruiting class by 247Sports.

"They were very talented, I mean a great team, but you can't think of it that way," Roux told the Townsman. "Every team you play in 3SSB is going to have somebody like that. It's more just about playing hard and showing you can play with those kids at that level."

The 17-year-old is a rarity on the national AAU circuit: an impact player still at his hometown public high school. Already a 1,000-point scorer, the 2026 Eagle-Tribune Co-Player of the Year led the Golden Warriors to a 21-3 record, a Merrimack Valley Conference title, and a Division 1 Final Four appearance last winter. He plays for Vin Pastore's Mass. Rivals 17U squad, a program that has produced NBA players Noah Vonleh and Wenyen Gabriel.

Roux traveled to tournaments in Indiana, California, and Texas this spring and summer before the South Carolina finale. Through it all, he never considered leaving Andover High and 37th-year head coach David Fazio, a relationship that started when Roux attended Fazio's "Hooptown" Camp in second grade.

"He's probably one of the top five greatest kids we've had in 37 years," Fazio said. "He's like a son, just a special, special kid. Our relationship is second to none, and he has some unfinished business here. He wants to bring a state title to Andover High School before he's done."

The plan: Roux finishes his senior year at Andover, then takes a post-graduate year before pursuing Division 1 college basketball, following the path of former Warriors Aidan Cammann (Stanford), Joe Bramanti (Wright State/UNH), and Kyle Rocker (Central Connecticut).

With AAU wrapped for the summer, Roux returned to work at Hooptown Camp in late July and will rejoin his Andover teammates ahead of the 2026-27 season.
