Andover girls swimming lost to Chelmsford for the first time in five years during the week of Oct. 18-24, with the Lions handing the Golden Warriors their first Merrimack Valley Conference I dual-meet defeat in a clash of unbeaten teams.

Chelmsford senior Nora Williamson, the Lions' captain, powered the upset. She won the 50-yard freestyle and 100-yard freestyle and swam a leg on the winning 200-yard freestyle and 400-yard freestyle relay teams, according to Valley Sports Daily, which named her its Female Player of the Week.

Williamson entered the season as the defending Division 2 state champion in the 50 freestyle. She touched the wall in 24.80 seconds to win that title at the Massachusetts Interscholastic Athletic Association (MIAA) state championships in November 2025, according to MIAA results. She also placed third in the 100 freestyle at that meet.

A three-time team most valuable player and first-team all-MVC selection, Williamson has committed to swim at Ithaca College, according to the Boston Herald's all-scholastic honors published in February.

Chelmsford coach Harriet Kinnett praised Williamson's individual races and her relay contributions against Andover, according to Valley Sports Daily.

The loss stings for an Andover program that had dominated the head-to-head series. The Golden Warriors finished fourth at the Division 1 state championships last November with 210 points. Senior Vivian Moulson, the MVC's most valuable swimmer, won the 200-yard individual medley and 100-yard butterfly at that meet. Junior Emilia Hukkanen won the 500-yard freestyle and placed second in the 200 freestyle, according to MIAA results.

Chelmsford, meanwhile, finished as the Division 2 state runner-up last fall with 282 points, just 10 behind champion Wellesley, according to MassLive.

Both programs entered the dual meet undefeated in MVC I competition. The final score was not available.
