A welfare check led police to a hospital in Cambridge — just not the one they expected.

Police and a mental health clinician checked a Gude Road address after a Beth Israel-affiliated geriatrics program flagged concerning emails from a man believed to live there. The address turned out to be outdated — the man had already been transported to a Cambridge hospital. No emergency existed in Andover, and police passed the information back to the clinic.

A dead bat is headed to the state lab.

Animal Control collected a dead bat from a Chestnut Street home after the homeowner worried about possible exposure. It's now at Andover Animal Hospital, prepped for state rabies testing; results weren't available by publication. Under state protocol, any bat that can't be tested is presumed positive. It's at least the third bat call in the area since mid-June, following similar reports on Seminole Circle and Apache Avenue.

A "stolen" package was just a mix-up.
