Merrimack College's women's golf team won the Hill YEAH! Invitational by eight strokes Tuesday, Sept. 29, at Wiltwyck Golf Club in Kingston, N.Y.

Sophomore June Doerr set the tone early in the final round with a hole-in-one on the par-3 8th hole, Merrimack Athletics reported. The ace came during a Day 2 push that carried the Warriors to the team title in the nine-team event hosted by Stonehill College.

Merrimack finished the tournament 14-over par, topping runner-up FDU by eight. The Warriors held the lead after Day 1 and tightened their grip in the final round, combining for a 1-over 289 to pull away.

Doerr finished third on the individual leaderboard at 1-over par for the tournament. She carded a 2-under 70 in the final round, climbing five spots from her Day 1 position.

Two freshmen made the biggest moves on Day 2. Erika Redmond jumped 10 spots on the leaderboard with a 4-under 68 in the final round. She finished sixth overall. Olivia Williams posted a top-10 finish at 4-over par for the tournament.

Sophomore Mya Murphy earned a top-15 result at 8-over.

All four counted toward a final-round score that locked up the title. Merrimack's 289 on Day 2 was the decisive stretch, erasing any doubt after the Warriors carried a lead into the second day.

The win follows a strong fall start for the North Andover program. Doerr and the Warriors competed at the Warrior Invitational on Sept. 18, which Merrimack Athletics described as a record-setting day for the sophomore. Specific records from that event were not detailed.

Doerr's ace on the 8th hole at Wiltwyck adds another highlight to a fall season that has the Warriors stacking results. The sophomore's third-place individual finish and Redmond's 68 anchored a lineup that put four players in the top 15 of the field.

Merrimack's next tournament date has not been announced.
