North Andover residents can start casting early ballots for the Sept. 1 state primary on Saturday, Aug. 22, with in-person voting open at Town Hall, 120 Main St., through Friday, Aug. 28.
The registration deadline lands on the same day early voting begins. Residents who are not yet registered must sign up by Aug. 22, either online by 11:59 p.m., by mail postmarked that day, or in person at the Town Clerk's office.
As we reported Aug. 7, the primary covers a long list of offices including governor, lieutenant governor, attorney general, secretary of state, treasurer, auditor, U.S. senator, Governor's Council, state senator, state representative, district attorney and register of probate.
Early voting hours
The schedule at Town Hall, according to the town's announcement:
- Saturday, Aug. 22 — 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.
- Monday, Aug. 24 — 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.
- Tuesday, Aug. 25 — 8 a.m. to 6 p.m.
- Wednesday, Aug. 26 — 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.
- Thursday, Aug. 27 — 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.
- Friday, Aug. 28 — 8 a.m. to noon

What's on the ballot
The marquee local contest is the 6th Congressional District race to replace U.S. Rep. Seth Moulton. Six Democrats are competing: Bethany Andres-Beck, John Beccia, Jamie Belsito, Dan Koh, Mariah Lancaster and Tram Nguyen. Republican Micah Q. Jones of Essex is the sole GOP candidate for the seat, according to WHAV reporting.
For state representative, North Andover spans two districts. Precincts 1 through 6 fall in the 14th Essex district, where Democrat Adrianne Pusateri Ramos of North Andover is on the ballot. Precincts 7 and 8 are in the 18th Essex district, where Democrat Connor A. Murray of Andover is running, according to the Secretary of State's candidate list.
Unenrolled voters may pull any one party's ballot. Registered party members vote only in their own party's primary.
Vote by mail and Election Day
Vote-by-mail applications must be received by 5 p.m. on Tuesday, Aug. 25.
On Election Day, Tuesday, Sept. 1, all precincts vote at North Andover High School, 430 Osgood St. Polls open at 7 a.m. and close at 8 p.m.
