North Andover residents on 29 streets will lose power for about eight hours overnight Sunday, Oct. 11, as National Grid shuts down service to upgrade the electrical system.

The planned outage runs from 10 p.m. Sunday to about 6 a.m. Monday, Oct. 12, according to the North Andover newsbrief published Oct. 5. National Grid issued the notice, Work Request 31334098, on Sept. 30, saying the interruption is necessary for crews to work safely while making improvements.

Streets affected include Allen, Main, Stevens, Osgood, Elm, Pleasant, Franklin, Chickering, Bradstreet, Bunker Hill, Camden, Clarendon, Concord, Court, Davis, Elmcrest, Greene, Harkaway, Lexington, Lincoln, Magnolia, Mill Pond, Oxford, Park, Phillips, Princeton, Russell, Tavern and Wiley.

That is a lot of streets.

If extreme weather hits Oct. 11, defined by National Grid as temperatures above 90 degrees or below 20 degrees, or if unexpected system problems arise, the utility will push the work to Monday, Oct. 12, during the same overnight window. If both nights are affected, National Grid said it will reschedule to a later date. Customers with questions can call National Grid at 1-800-322-3223.

Full-width paving begins Wednesday, Oct. 7

Separately, the town's Annual Roads and Sidewalk Restoration Program begins full-width paving Wednesday, Oct. 7, weather permitting. Four streets are on the schedule, in this anticipated order:

  • Cotuit Street (Chickering Road to dead end)
  • Brewster Street (Peters Street to Cotuit Street)
  • Ipswich Street (Cotuit Street to Harwich Street)
  • Waverly Road (Turnpike Street to Delucia Way)

The town warned that drivers should expect traffic delays, detours and raised castings in the paving areas. A town representative will be on site during construction.

The October round follows earlier 2026 paving on streets including Duncan Drive, Winter Street, Barker Street and Hillside Road.

Residents with questions about the paving can contact the North Andover engineering department.
